Describe it To Me is a multi-level, "game show" type app designed by a certified SLP. It is perfect for students/clients working on their receptive/expressive language skills. The "game show" type design of this app makes it very appealing to people of all ages! Who doesn't love game shows?!
On the home page you can click the "support" button in the bottom left corner in order to read about the app, backup to iTunes, restore from iTunes, request support, and watch a video tutorial.
To get started, you will want to add a player or import players from the TRC. You can also modify the settings for players by clicking on the button in the top right corner of the screen.
The wheel on the left side of the screen shows the player and amount of points throughout the game. Each stimulus picture has six corresponding questions.
You can switch between target questions by clicking on the buttons across the top (category, function, parts, location, visuals, and extra). You can also choose between receptive or expressive language by sliding the bar on the right hand side.
Users will pick between the 4 choices displayed under the stimulus pictures. Once the correct answer is chosen, a "thumbs up" is displayed. You can use the arrows on the right hand side to move on to the next picture. Once the session is complete, click done at the top right corner.
You will be able to view the results of each user's sessions. The results include the date of session, overall accuracy, and correct/incorrect responses in both receptive and expressive language.
You will also be able to earn awards and view them for each session. This is a super fun feature that your students/clients will get excited about!
Lastly, I love that this app includes homework sheets! What could be better than some carryover activities built right into the app?!
